Returned to Ithaca, Photography exhibition at Blender Gallery

15SEP15-03OCT15

Τhe Blender Gallery invites you to the opening of the "Returned to Ithaca" International Photography exhibition.
Curators: Philip Tsiaras & Christoforos Doulgeris

ITHACA is not just an island, a latitude, a topographical reality –but the myth of ultimate deliverance. To evoke Cavafy, what Ithaca represents is not arriving to it, but the amazing and complicated journey of trying to find it. The personal demons that are conquered, the treasure of knowledge gained in life’ s travel, the richness of the pursuit of it—this is the road to Ithaca.

More than 20 international artists have been invited to interpret “Ithaca Returned” from the most personal expression, to the heroic, Odyssean nature emboldened by Homer.

Participating artists

Bedri Baykam, Juliane Herrmann, Knut Lsg Hybinette , Gene Lemay, Takeshi Moro, Sophie Tianxin Chen, Lydia Venieri, Angelos Gavrias, Giorgos Gyparakis, Christophoros Doulgeris, Panos Kokkinias, Georgia Kotretsos, Alexandros Lambrovassilis, Kamilo Nollas, Apostolos Palavrakis, Natasha Papadopoulou, Costas Picadas, Elena Poka, Lucas Samaras, Giorgos Tserionis, Philip Tsiaras, Pavlos Fysakis and Aspassio Haronitakis.

Contemporary artists from Europe, Asia, and the United States, engage in a visual dialogue using a variety of photographic techniques to interpret the Odyssean voyage, the idea of Ithaca.

The exhibition aims to give visual life to the idea of Ithaca in images and pictures that can capture, unlike words, another allegorical dimension of Ithaca.
