Edy Ferguson: Conspiracy Theory

Edy Ferguson: Conspiracy Theory

30MAY13 - 20SEP13

Bernier-Eliades Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of the American artist Edy Ferguson.

Bernier-Eliades Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by the American artist Edy Ferguson, on Thursday, May 30, 20:00 - 22:00. This exhibition entitled “Conspiracy Theory”, will feature sculpture, drawing, painting, photograph and installation. The artist will attend the opening.
Edy Fergusons’s (Chicago, USA) practice spans a wide range of materials and media such as video, drawing, collage, sculpture, installation, photography, performance, and painting. The scope of her skills, the freedom to employ a wide array of media, as well as her stance towards performance, make for a body of work that is challenging, creative, all-inclusive and engaging.
Through allusions to “high” and “low” culture – often resorting to icons from the cinema or the world of rock music – Ferguson poses pertinent and poignant questions on the role of emotions in artistic creations, on the freeing power of image and music, and on the coexistence of multiple and contradictory points of view in our experience of reality.
In this exhibition, the artist will present sculpture with sound, video installation, painting, wall murals as well as drawings and photographs. A variety of media will be presented showcasing the artist's vision with all its stratifications, emotional sensitivity and infectious energy.
Ferguson lives and works in New York, and has traveled and worked extensively in Athens and Europe. In 1988 she received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis. In 1996 she obtained her Master’s in Combined Media from Hunter College in New York. She has exhibited internationally in France, Switzerland, Austria, Venezuela, Greece and the USA. Solo exhibitions include: Retrospective at the Centre D'Art Contemporain, Geneva, 2012, a retrospective exhibition at the Benaki Museum, Athens, 2012. Her works have been included in the 2nd Biennial Mardin, Turkey, Weiner Art Foundation and the Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens.

The gallery is open Tue-Friday from 10:30-18:30. Saturday from 12:00- 16:00.
