Atopos Unlocked: Occupy Atopos #Clo’eFloirat

03DEC14-14JAN15

Atopos Unlocked, the new program of Atopos Contemporary Visual Culture (Atopos cvc) continues with the French Clo'e Floirat.

Clo’e will be the second resident of the Occupy Atopos residency project.

She will take over the premises of Atopos and produce original works for the new Atopos subject matter and research in progress titled Unlocked: the depiction of the naked human body and how it is captured by the new generation of artists of Tumblr and social media. Occupy Atopos will continue with more artists’ monthly visits until May 2015.

Clo'e Floirat is an art critic and artist: “artist-critic”. She combines drawing and writing into what she calls “drawing Crit’ writing”, critiquing contemporary art events and current affairs in her own distinctive manner. “Her work is not an end”, as British writer Natalie Ferris indicates, “but an intermediary to urge for more thoughts and opinions, to foster our individual esprit critique.” Clo’e has studied in New York, London (MA in Critical Writing in Art & Design, Royal College of Art) and the Netherlands (Design Academy of Eindhoven) and has participated in various Atopos projects like ARRRGH!, Slaves to Atopos and Mon Petit Chou. A regular contributor to various publications, e.g., artpress, Intramuros and l’Officiel Art, she also works with Colette in Paris, Hermès and Illycaffè while continuing her collaborations with Robert Wilson as well as Rufus Wainwright in New York for several years.

Furthermore, as part of its 10 year anniversary Atopos «unlocks» its premises and collections to the public and presents an exhibition of British designer Craig Green and of the Atopos Paper Fashion collection. The presentation of the paper dress collection, which includes rare items by Issey Miyake, Helmut Lang, Maison Martin Margiela, Walter Van Beirendonck and Hussein Chalayan, Campbell Soup Dress after Andy Warhol, Lisa Dress by Robert Wilson, Yellow Pages Dress by Howard Hodgkin among others, will be changing on a regular basis.

The result of Atopos new research will be presented in a special publication titled Unlocked which is going to be released in collaboration with La Gaîté lyrique in Paris in 2015.
