Redesigning Faliro Bay: Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center
Faliro is preparing to become much greener as well. The city will now “be united” with the sea through walkways/piers, together with a state-of-the-art Cultural Center serving as the main attraction.

The new Faliro Bay won’t look a thing like it does today, thanks to the vision of renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, which serves as the driving force behind this endeavor. The entire site will be transformed into a huge green area with two adjacent but distinct projects: on one hand, the “Cultural Center Stavros Niarchos Foundation” that will consist of the new National Library of Greece and the New Opera House surrounded by the Stavros Niarchos Park in an area of 170 acres. The rest site will be structured upon 5 walkways/piers that will end up on the water, effectively uniting the city with the sea! The project is expected to be completed by early 2016.
